Introducing India’s young minds to the valour of Indian defence forces
Introducing India’s young minds to the valour of Indian defence forces

“There will be no withdrawal without written orders and these orders shall never be issued.” This is not a dialogue from a patriotic bollywood movie. These lines were immortalised by Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, a gem of Indian defence force.

There are many such stories of those who serve in the Indian defence forces with an oath to protect every Indian’s life. Their courage lies in an unshakeable belief that India must always rise, no matter the cost.

In a world full of superhero movies and video game warriors, it's time we remind our children that real heroes walk among us. For them, understanding the strength and spirit of the Indian defence forces can be a powerful foundation shaping their pride in being Indian.

Each wing of our armed forces has etched its name in history through extraordinary acts of bravery and landmark operations that reflect their courage and strategic brilliance.

In a daring night attack during the 1971 Indo-Pak War, the Indian navy launched Operation Trident, striking the Karachi harbour without losing a single ship. It was a display of strategic brilliance and naval supremacy.

The Indian army’s Operation Vijay during the Kargil War of 1999 stands as one of the most stirring chapters in Indian military history. With soldiers like Captain Vikram Batra, who famously said, “Yeh dil maange more!”, we reclaimed our lost land from infiltrators with sheer determination and sacrifice.

In a swift move following the Pulwama terror attack in 2019, the Indian air force carried out airstrikes in Balakot, neutralising terror camps. It demonstrated their commitment to safeguard their motherland.

The most shining and recent example of India’s strength and unity is Operation Sindoor following the tragic Pahalgam attack. When terror tried to shake the very fabric of our nation, our soldiers stood firm with decisive action.

These milestones aren’t just war stories; they are lessons in strategy, leadership and patriotism that young minds should grow up with. It is vital for our children to be proud of belonging to a nation that not only protects its people but stands tall and united in the face of adversity.

The lines of Captain Vikram Batra where he said, “Either I will come back after hoisting the Tricolour, or I will come back wrapped in it” teach our kids about unmatched courage and valour of our forces.

Our armed forces always prove that patriotism is not about rivalry or aggression. It's about love—for the land, for people and for the values that hold us together.

When children understand what our armed forces truly do, they develop more than admiration. They begin to understand sacrifice, empathy and responsibility. They start seeing problems as challenges to overcome, not reasons to give up.

No single article, not even an entire book—no matter how heartfelt—can truly do justice to the immense sacrifice and courage of the Indian armed forces. That is why our young generation must grow up knowing these legends through the emotions that shaped them.

Today’s generation must feel the pride of standing tall under the Tiranga as free citizens of a nation whose independence was earned through blood, sacrifice and the undying spirit of countless Indian soldiers.

In a world obsessed with fictional superheroes, India is blessed with real ones—heroes in uniform whose names echo through every patriotic heart.

Let’s raise a generation that doesn’t just wear the Indian flag but understands what it stands for — courage, commitment, and sacrifice. Because the more our children know about our defence forces, the more they will cherish the freedom they so valiantly protect.

So next time a child asks, “Who are our real heroes?”—don’t point to a screen. Point to the uniform. Tell them about the bravehearts who touch the sky, rule the waves and guard our borders. And let them wear that pride with a smile—and a T-shirt from Luv My India.
